I have to admit, I did not know the reason why I joined the club initially. During the first year of IB, I was promised by my father to make an extension of a new bedroom for myself in our home…. He said if I could design a promising design and work out what was needed, I may be able to get it done as soon as possible—of which I really wanted. So I thought about joining the club, “What the heck; why not? I mean it could help me in someway…”
Well knowing now, it didn’t help at all. In fact, I was clueless where the club was heading. The club was small as it was only available to our year group only and was supervised by one of the DT teachers, Mr.Gullim.
The club was held during Tuesday’s lunchtime at school. I was particularly unhappy of the times and was late to class as I was always occupied with something else at school. The club was a bit dull at sometimes was a drag when you have to learn about a history of a building as well its mathematical aspects taken. And we also went through many different buildings and structure followed by a range of discussion that buildings end up looking like my vomit.
Though I did particularly enjoyed one building, the Einstein tower, is a feat.
Continuing further with the lessons, the news of the school needing to move to a new location was one of the first practical lessons we did. We had to create a design of the new school and how it would shape like, as we were chosen to know its full specification and needs. This became the highlight of the rest of the lessons held by the club; we were given a sample copy of a design criterion by an architecture team to analyze and change some its specification and its design with different drawn images.
I guess that boosted my spirit up as the shared information became quite valuable and much interesting then student gossip. For a few lessons, we came up with brainstorms, ideas, designs and discussions of the new school. Unfortunately, the lessons got discontinued and the club’s tutor left the school.
The club eventually was shut off at the sudden. It was a pity to enjoy the lessons last minute, but what had to start always needed to end. I did not felt much about the club sent to a halt; even with our work on the new school was quite valid and plentiful, it was not convincing to use it in reality. At least now I have another free lunch to use again.
Why the blog??
Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 5 years, blogs are the new journals or diaries of the Twenty-first century! The Internet is now the best multi-media for distributing or sharing information; business is booming, teenagers are screaming, paper articles are weeping!
You see, I happen to be one of those chaps who happen to know how to work a blog then to write a journal. This off course is not due to my shame of not having 'neat' handwritting, but the distribution of making a simple, clean presentation of my CAS activities are much easier to navigate online!
If there was one recognisable trait in all my CAS activities, it is my passion for photography. Keeping a good portfolio is just one part of it. Living in the Digital age (and still advancing), we are able to flex our talents and discover... uhh.... new things! My point off course is that i concentrate a lot towards Digital Photography directly from a hobby to a passion and soon, a field of profession. And the best way to distribute and present a compilation or collage of photographs (digitally) is through the internet, hence, why the blog idea spring to life.
That, and i love the internet.
